Cindy Roarty, Director

Hello fellow HOG members. My name is Cindy Roarty and it is with great excitement and enthusiasm that I step-up to represent you as you 2012 Director!!! I can’t begin to tell you how much fun I had as your 2011 Assistant Director.  I want to say “Thank YOU” for such a GREAT year!!! I am really looking forward to 2012.

My husband Tim and I have been married for 36 years and we have two wonderful daughters. Believe it or not, I do have other interests which are decorative painting, crafts and cooking, which have somewhat taken a back seat to my riding!!!

We have been active HOG members since 2005. I was Chapter Secretary for Oakland HOG in 2008 and 2009, and Photographer for 2010, which only made me want to get more involved. Being a HOG Chapter member has changed our lives. Our daughters, Allyson and Amy can’t believe that we’re NEVER HOME or answer the phone!!!! I tell them my cell is in the saddle bag….SORRY!!!

Tim and I have ridden over 80,000 miles of smiles in the past 5 ½ years and it is still with great excitement that I look forward to each and every ride on my Peace Officer Edition, 2006 Ultra Classic. My training is ongoing to avoid rider complacency. I have successfully completed both the Advanced Rider Safety Course with MSF and the Alameda County Sheriffs Civilian Motorcycle Training Program.

As I look forward to the coming year, I also look back to the great rides and fun times that I have experienced over the past 6 years. HOG has provided Tim and I with fascinating and exciting experiences, not to mention the great camaraderie between fellow riders. As so many of you know, the HOG family has become our family. The friends that we have made Hello fellow HOG members. My name is Cindy Roarty and it is with great enthusiasm and excitement that I step up to represent you as your 2012 Director. I can’t tell you how while riding, will be friends for life.

Thank you again for this opportunity to represent you as your 2012 Director and lead you on this journey down the road that winds ahead of us. My hopes are that you will join me on the fun rides and activities that will be planned with you in mind.

I look forward to seeing you on the road. Remember….. There is excitement around every corner!!!

Jim Bell, Assistant Director

I began riding dirt and street motorcycles before and after my military service. When life got in the way of riding, I sold my last bike, a Honda 450, and did not ride for the next 25 years.  Then, in 2008, I got the bug to live again and ride.  I went to Street Vibrations 2008 to find out what was new in the industry and knew I wanted a Harley Davidson Motorcycle--but which one.?  I Spent the next 10 months researching and also took a refresher course on riding from the MSF.  Finally, at the end of July 2009 I found “The One”--a new 2010 Ultra Glide Limited with paint called Black Ice.  Someone told me if I joined HOG, I would instantly have a million new friends.  I joined in August 2009 and have greatly enjoyed my new friends and glad I joined the best and most riding Chapter – FREMONT HOG now called OAKLAND HOG (Motto: Ride and Have Fun).  I am also a member of the Rotary Club of Fremont (Motto: Service Above Self) and Washington Township Men’s Club (Motto: We do Nothing for No One No Way No How).

John Davis, Treasurer

As Treasurer for 2012 I am looking forward to accounting for and helping to allocate the chapter money.

I started riding on the streets and hills of Los Angeles when I was 17 and bought my first Harley in 1977.  It was AMF then and it was a great bike.   I gave it to my daughter when she started riding in 1998.  I have owned 5 Harleys and currently ride a 2011 Electra Glide Ultra Limited.  I joined the chapter in 1998 and have been a chapter Road Captain since 1999.  I served as Head Road Captain in 2000 & 2001, Chapter Director in 2004 and Activities Officer in 2007 & 2008.

Our H.O.G. Chapter offers camaraderie and lots of riding opportunities. There are many great destinations in the greater Bay Area and throughout the year we will ride to many of them.  One way to support the Chapter and the Road Captain corps, and to have a lot of fun, is to participate in the riding as well as the meetings.  If you have a favorite destination that is not on our ride calendar let us know.

Jeanne , LOH

Happy New Year to all Oakland HOG members.

We want to thank everyone for making us your LOH leaders.  My LOH assistant, Casey and I are very excited to plan our busy year with everyone's support.

Casey and I have been with Oakland HOG for one year and have watch Cathy make the LOH team strong and vibrant.  Our goal is to continue this momentum with your help and support.  We want to continue monthly meetings in your homes, plan a few rides, and do our part to support Oakland Harley.

We look forward to seeing everyone and happy riding

Lonny Weissman, Head Road Captain

I have been riding motorcycles since I was 16. My first motorcycle was a Jawa (Cezch bike). My first harley was the engine from a 1945 Harley mounted on a custom hardtail frame. I currently own a 2009 Fat Boy and a 2010 Ultra Limited. My longest ride was from L.A. to Alaska (on the hardtail) ouch!! I love to ride and unless the weather is foul I will ride whenever I can. In the last year I have logged over 21,000 miles on my bikes and I look forward to doing even more this year. I am honered to serve as the Head Road Captain this year and I encourage all of you to bring your ideas for rides and activities to your Road Captains and Activities officer.

Marian Stevens, Editor/Webmistress/Historian

My name is Marian Stevens, and I have been in the Chapter since June of 2005.  I've been riding my Harley since April 30, 2005 and have enjoyed, as of this writing, nearly 40,000 miles of fun - and a new (to me) 2008 Road King Classic which I got last May.

Once again, I am your Webmistress and Historian - and this year a new duty calls - I am your Newsletter Editor.  I have some very tough shoes to fill but I'm up to the challenge.  If you would like to submit anything to the newsletter or the website, please feel free to email me at webmaster@oaklandhog.org with your submissions/suggestions, etc.

Cheers and keep the shiny side up!

Webmistress Marian
