Tips for Submitting Useable Photos

Everyone is encouraged to submit photos for the website. Our photos represent the history of our HOG Chapter, and many are used by our Chapter Historian who creates some sort of document/book representing each year. Here are some helpful tips for submitting photos which can be displayed on the website and subject to being part of the 'Yearbook' so to speak.

  1. Don't rename your photos.
Most if not all digital cameras have a sequential numbering system. If they are submitted with the numbers, they will display in order, to 'tell the story.'
  2. Make sure your photos are large enough
Bigger is better - especially when it comes to printing them. What is meant by size is the photos should be at least 600 pixels wide or tall. To find out the dimensions, open the folder where you have your pictures, and right click one of them. As shown below, the dimensions are shown in the "Details" box on the lower left

  3. Turn the date/time stamp off.
It really takes away from the ambiance of the photo below, don't you agree?

It's important to use one of the above methods because our Webmaster is also our Historian and this ensures the pictures will be considered for the "Year Book."

Timeliness
We do our darndest to publish the photos as soon as we get them - but sometimes, since we all volunteers, a delay can occur. Other times, we'll receive photos from someone from a ride months before. That's okay - we'll post them anyway!
